For the trill on Chopin's Minute Waltz, a 132 fingering is suggested in my book. (I don't know if that is Chopin's fingering or not). However, I find a 23 fingering much more comfortable and easier to do. Does anybody eles find this fingering better or is the 132 fingering ultimatley better, or can you suggest a different fingering that may be better? Thanks!

Jgoo -

I've always used just 2-3 and it';s worked just fine. Just use whatever's best for you, whatever feels 'right'. That's all I can really say.

Are you talking about the long trill that's about 3 or 4 dotted half notes long, and that comes right after the middle section?

I think 2-3 works fine.
The effect is nicer when you play the trill with slow alternance, then play the
*G-Ab-C-Bb*'s that come next at very high speed. Chopin said that 3 measures of those should be compressed into 1. After that trill you are talking about, play a random number of those *G-Ab-C-Bb* at very high speed then slow down RIGHT BEFORE the left hand comes in. Try it!
People tend to play this piece too fast. Tempi are not clearly indicated on the Waltes, but there is evidence that Chopin didn't intend the Minute Waltz to be played at Presto speed contrary to what most people think. Maybe people started playing it fast because they thought it was to be played within only a minute. \:D
